Our story begins in 1970, when Dolors Puntonet, daughter of Amadeu Puntonet and Carmeta Molas, opened a small bar with her husband Joan Solà. Carmeta, an excellent cook, was able to pass on her passion for cooking to the family. In 1980, they moved on to a restaurant, and in 1985, they opened their first rooms as a hostel.
It was at this time that Joan Solà, son of Dolors and Juan, joined the business with his wife Joana Martí. Years later, Esmeralda Solà, daughter of Dolors and sister of Juan, joined the team after studying cooking at the Sant Narcís hotel and tourism school in Girona, as well as doing internships in restaurants in Catalonia and France. Later, Sergi, son of Juan and Joana, trained in tourism and sommelier at the University of Girona.
In the early nineties, we acquired an adjoining house and, with a great deal of effort and investment, we made several extensions, always without losing sight of our essence: traditional cuisine. In 2000, we took the definitive step to convert La Quadra into a hotel complex that combined catering and accommodation. Today, La Quadra has the official distinction of three stars and has joined the new category of gastronomic hotel, thanks to its restaurant serving traditional Catalan cuisine, with seasonal dishes.
Currently, La Quadra is managed by Joan, Joana and Sergi, with Esmeralda at the helm of the kitchen.
Today, we continue to work with the same passion and dedication as always, transmitting to each client the warmth of our family and the flavour of our tradition. La Quadra is, and always will be, a reflection of our origins and the place where the heart of our history beats strongest.
