History
Our history began in the year 1970, when Dolors Puntonet, the daughter of Amadeu Puntonet and Carmeta Molas, opened a small bar with her husband, Joan Solà, in the family home. Carmeta was a very good cook and was able to pass her know-how on to the family. The decision to open a restaurant was made around 1980 and the first rooms of the hostel were opened in 1985.
It was during this period when Joan Solà, the son of Dolors and Joan, joined the company, along with his wife, Joana Martí. A few years later, they were joined by Esmeralda, Dolors' daughter and Joan's sister, who had studied cooking at the Sant Narcís hostelry and tourism school in Girona and worked at restaurants in Catalonia and France. Finally, Sergi, Joan and Joana's son, he has studied tourism and followed a sommelier's course at the University of Girona. He worked in renowned restaurants as sommelier, such as the Arzak (San Sebastian) or Lasarte (Barcelona). In the early 1990s we bought a house adjoining our own. With great effort and investment, we made successive enlargements, but never forgetting that traditional cooking was the strong point of the establishment, which has continued to reflect its identity to the present day. In the year 2000 we took the definitive step to convert La Quadra into a hotel complex, with restaurant and accommodation. La Quadra now has the official qualification of three stars as a hotel establishment of quality, and it has gained the new distinction of Gastronomic Hotel thanks to its restaurant of traditional Catalan cuisine serving seasonal dishes.
La Quadra is now run by Joan, Joana and Sergi along with Esmeralda Solà as its chef.
